Son veinte mil faroles que alumbran la ciudad
rindiendo homenaje a la virgen de la inmaculada y reviviendo año a año la
esperanza de los habitantes en la tradición de las velas que hace 117 años une
a cada uno de los barrios de Quimbaya en el Quindío, el festival de velas y faroles ha sido
reconocido como patrimonio cultural
inmaterial del departamento del Quindío, siendo un testimonio de paz y
convivencia que a través de la creatividad como lo son las luces de los
alumbrados que son extracto de la higuerilla o velas hechas de grasa animal.
Los altares en los hogares de las familias se
llenan de luces en hileras entregando a cada una de estas la fe y devoción a la

En este festival de faroles el principal
escenario son las calles, balcones y ventanas de los habitantes que llenan las
estructuras con faroles realizados por ellos mismos para esta fiesta que logra
trasladar la mente a un mundo mágico, se realiza el 7 y el 8 de diciembre y
tiene una asistencia de 20mil personas quienes disfrutan de este evento que
expone la creatividad y la fe de los habitantes de Quimbaya
